BIG WAY HIKING TRAIL
LAKE MARTIN HIKING TRAIL BIG WAY
Lake Martin Hiking Trail Big Way, is one of the local favorite trails.
This trail is accessed at The Stables at Russell Crossroads. You can park near Catherine’s Market at Russell Crossroads and walk down to the stables to get started.
Big Way Hiking Trail is about 4 miles of hiking. For the casual hiker it will take you about an hour to cover this trail from beginning to end. You will have an offering of side trails along the way that will get you off the beaten path but will tie back in to Big Way. This hiking trail is easy to follow and mostly shaded with a graded road to walk on. It will take you deep into the woods crossing one stream where you can jump a couple of rocks and land safely on the other side. It is at this point where you can stop and hear the water making its way around the rocks while you listen to natures symphony of song birds in the background. One stretch of the trail leads you beside Lake Martin where you can oftentimes get a glimpse of the geese. It is not surprising to see people riding bikes and horses along this trail.
A perfect place to get some refreshing for the soul. Nature has a way of doing that. Go take a hike!
Be sure to register at The Stables at Russell Crossroads. Hiking is free and when you set out on a trail be sure to call Russell Lands security when you start and when you have finished. Click here to view or print a map of the hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
