LAKE MARTIN

Lake Martin was once known as The South’s Best Kept Secret. Basically, there was nothing commercialized about it.

I can remember the simplicity of lake life, the peacefulness, and the sound of silence was music to your ears. Taking a bath was jumping in the lake with a bar of Ivory soap. Dining was whatever you brought from home to the lake for your entire stay. Happy hour was entertaining yourself at no charge. Music on the deck was a harmonica, banjo, and a sing-along among family members.

Lake Hill Restaurant was the first Lake Martin Restaurant I can remember that was on the water. it was a popular place to dine but most people did not come by water.
