A Familiar Location with a New Vision
Vivian Autry was scrolling through Facebook when she came across a property that caught her eye. Listed by Michael Carter of Team Windy and Mindy, the property was Martin’s, a sports bar near the lake. For longtime Lake Martin regulars, the site was already legendary. Years ago, the site was home to Colonel Tom’s, a colorful lake dive. Nearby was another iconic spot, The Rodeo Club. Both locations thrived thanks to their prime position near the original Stillwaters entry gate and Highway 34, one of the busiest arteries leading to nearby lake residences.
What made this listing different was the transformation. The updated building, featuring nearly new fixtures and equipment, presented a new opportunity in a location already steeped in local history. Vivian showed the listing to her husband, Mike Autry, and their friend, David Hudmon. Their reaction was immediate. As Vivian recalls, “The next thing I knew, we were buying a sports bar!”
A Smart Investment with Community Roots
Vivian, an investment banker with Wells Fargo, quickly recognized the value. “I knew instantly that the price was right,” she says. With Michael Carter and Team Windy and Mindy guiding the process, the purchase was seamless. On June 19, 2025, they purchased the business and the property. The new Martin’s at Lake Martin officially held a grand opening on September 20, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Even before the formal launch, the business had been operating for three months and had already gained the support of both the Lake Martin and Dadeville communities.
Entertainment for Every Taste
One of Martin’s biggest draws is its entertainment lineup. With 25 TVs and a massive projection screen, the venue is a go-to spot for sports fans. Weekly events keep the atmosphere lively, featuring trivia nights, bingo games, and live music every Friday and Saturday. The goal is straightforward: to provide something enjoyable for everyone at Lake Martin.
Food Trucks Bring Variety and Flavor
Perhaps the most loved feature at the new Martin’s is its rotating food truck schedule. Four nights a week, a different food truck sets up on-site, offering a variety of casual eats and unique flavors. Patrons can park, order directly at the truck, and enjoy table delivery while sipping on soft drinks or beverages from the bar. Each week, a new schedule is released, allowing guests to know which trucks to expect. This feature has quickly become a highlight for both locals and visitors.
Ongoing Improvements and Local Commitment
Partners Mike Autry, who works in high-end cabinetry, and David Hudmon, a construction professional, have already made improvements to the property. A new roof over the back patio ensures that both patrons and musical acts are protected from the elements. This upgrade enables larger performances and events, such as Kowaliga Idol, to continue year-round, adding even more value to the Lake Martin experience.
Beyond business, the ownership team is committed to being an active part of the community. They support local causes, including the Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch, and plan to expand their outreach in the future. For them, Martin’s at Lake Martin is not just a business—it’s a way to give back to the community that welcomed them so warmly.
